Welcome to 50-Plus Dating
Monday, March 23rd, 2009Hello there! Welcome to the new 50-Plus Dating blog. It’s a member of the same family as 50-PlusDating.com and 50-PlusDating.co.uk, the new personal contact and dating web sites for people over 50 and members of the more mature generation.
The Baby-Boomer generation came of age a while ago and it’s fair to say that it’s actually now well into it’s middle-age. However, compared to previous generations, today’s middle-aged have a different take on life. Pipes and slippers are not for them - well, most of them anyway. They were used to a pretty active social life when they were younger and most of them relish the prospect of enjoying another now that the ties of family and career have loosened in later life.
But for a large number such a prospect has been greatly diminished through not having the friends, and especially a special friend or partner, with whom to enjoy the fruits of their new-found greater freedom. This could be for many reasons. Some mothers may have dedicated themselves to bringing up their family single-handed and with the last of their brood off their hands, now suddenly find themselves alone. Others maybe have gone through the trauma of losing a long-term spouse or partner and are now ready for the cut-and-thrust of seeking a new relationship with a new partner. And others have possibly never been married or in a long-term relationship at all and feel that now is the right time in their life to do so.
As it says on the web sites - “You’re not old and you don’t feel it. You don’t fancy Bridge Clubs and Ballroom Dancing but you don’t want to go pubbing and clubbing with teenie-boppers.” That just about sums 50-Plus Dating up. It’s here to meet the needs of the 50-Plus generation and help them to meet new friends with a similar outlook on life to themselves. And who knows - hopefully also find the one who can totally fill the gap in their life that is reserved for that special partner.
Over time the blog will be looking at and discussing everything possible to do with contacting and meeting new friends and dating in later life. It will aim to be both interesting and humorous but that does not mean that more serious aspects to do with relationships won’t be discussed. They will. And who knows, if we’re lucky, we may even be able to get the odd contribution from time to time from an ‘expert’.
Here’s looking forward to the next post. See you around then.
